How to choose a gaming GPU
A graphics card should match your games and your system. A model number is only the beginning.
Start with your display
Write down your monitor’s resolution and refresh rate. A 1440p display at a high refresh rate asks something different of a system than a 4K display used for visually demanding single-player games.
Look at the games you actually play
Use recent independent benchmarks for your most-played titles. Compare results at the same resolution and settings. Ray tracing, upscaling and frame generation can materially change both frame rates and the experience.
Balance the whole PC
A faster GPU cannot always overcome a CPU bottleneck. Consider your processor, power supply and cooling, and allow for any changes they need in your total upgrade budget.
Check the exact card
Cards sharing a GPU can have different cooling systems, dimensions, clocks and warranty terms. Choose a specific manufacturer part number before ordering, then verify it against your build.
